Emergency physician → Health tech

I build clinical tools from inside the ER.

I’m an emergency physician and a Computer Engineering student. I spot the bottlenecks I run into on every shift and turn them into software other doctors use: simple, fast, and with patient privacy as a non-negotiable requirement.

Background

Two careers that ended up being one

I’ve been programming since I was 15. I put Engineering on hold to study Medicine, and working in emergency medicine brought me back to code with something I didn’t have before: real problems to solve.

  1. 2009

    Self-taught

Python, C# with XNA/MonoGame for video games, Visual Basic .NET.

  2. 2012 – 2013

    Computer Engineering · UCU

First formal studies. I put them on hold to start Medicine.

  3. 2015 – 2023

    Doctor of Medicine · UdelaR

Full clinical training, graduated in July 2023.

  4. 2024 – today

    Emergency physician

Hospital de Minas (substitute, then staff since 2025) and mobile emergency care at EMMI. Decisions under pressure, with limited time and resources.

  5. In production

    Historia Fácil

My first tool, born in the ER and now used by other emergency physicians.

  6. App Store

    Latiro

A native iOS app that measures pulse and breathing by manual counting, without looking at the clock.

  7. App Store

    Guardia Planner

On-call shifts, overtime and pay, on iPhone and iPad.

  8. 2026

    Computer Engineering · FING

Back to formal engineering studies, now with three apps in production.

Products

Apps for healthcare teams

Each one starts with a problem I lived through on a shift.

In use

A web tool for writing emergency medical records in seconds, from pre-built, editable templates for low-complexity visits. Available in Spanish.

  • The problem: on busy shifts, clinical documentation is a bottleneck, and most records share the same structure.
  • Privacy by design: everything is processed locally in the browser. No patient data ever reaches a server.
  • Real adoption: it’s used by emergency physicians I have no connection with.

Latiro

latiro.app

Available · App Store

Pulse and breathing, without looking at the clock. An iOS app that measures heart rate and respiratory rate by manual counting: tap the screen with each beat or breath, and the app does the rest.

  • Eyes on the patient: a button that fills the screen and vibrates with each tap, so you don’t have to look away from the patient.
  • Automatic calculation: results at 10, 30 and 60 seconds, with a real-time average.
  • Clinical references: normal values for adults (MedlinePlus) and for children by age (AEPED).
  • Private: measurements are never synced and never leave the device.

Guardia Planner

Available · App Store

On-call shifts & pay tracker. A calendar for iPhone and iPad (Mac coming soon) designed for anyone who works shifts at one or more workplaces: know what you’ll earn this month, overtime included, and get a reminder before each shift.

  • Calendar: month view and 24-hour week view, with repeating shifts and a warning when two overlap.
  • Clear pay: amounts per workplace and shift type, hourly rate, paid and unpaid.
  • Summary: total, hours and breakdown by workplace over 1, 3 or 6-month periods.
  • Pro: iCloud sync, Apple Calendar and export to PDF and Excel.
  • Private: no accounts, no server and no analytics. Your data stays on your device or in your own iCloud.

Approach

What I bring to a digital health team

01

Real clinical domain knowledge

I know how an emergency department works because I work in one. I understand the workflow, the vocabulary and what a doctor actually needs at 4 a.m.

02

Privacy as a requirement

Medical data is sensitive. I design so that patient information doesn’t leave the device when it doesn’t need to.

03

From problem to product

Functional specification, technical direction and validation with real users, using AI-assisted development to reach production.

04

Judgment under pressure

Prioritizing with limited resources and deciding with incomplete information is my everyday work. It translates directly to tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
